Lost Love - Love Lost

Him bother never would she again as she lay wrapped in the sheets of yesterday. Whenever he laid his eyes on her, he could not help but to think of the pain he might have caused her. The pain he could have caused her. The colour red tainted the sheets as she lay still. Had this been the last breath, the last smell and the last kiss of her that would ever touch his face, nose and lips? It could not be but still it was. As the dawn cracked through the open window, the light shone upon the dimmed colour of her skin. Life seemed meaningless as he gently closed her eyes and wrapped her fragile body. This was to be his last love, for now he would be no more – in flesh nor in soul.

  1. Strange fragment, but quite haunting in its depiction of the death of her, and perhaps of him as well. The backward language works quite well as if the film of the images made by the text are also shown in reverse...
